With operations in Manchester, and the Czech Republic, Magnesium Elektron leads the world in the development, production and supply of magnesium alloy systems and products. Lighter than aluminium, ELEKTRON wrought and cast magnesium alloys are used in high performance, extreme environment, safety critical automotive, aerospace, defence and other specialty applications. The Magnesium Elektron UK & CZ product range includes commercial casting alloys, wrought products, recycling services and magnesium powders, as well as technical development and service capabilities.

Magnesium Powders:
World leaders in particulate magnesium production, Magnesium Elektron have manufactured magnesium powders since 1941. Powders are supplied to diverse industries including military flare and ordnance applications, Grignard reagents for pharmaceutical and chemical synthesis, reduction of specialty metals such as Boron and Tantalum, steel desulphurization and iron nodularization processes, and commercial pyrotechnics.
Magnesium Elektron is also the largest manufacturer of atomised powders in the world. The atomization process results in exceptionally uniform, spherical powder with unique characteristics making it the material of choice for many military flares and munitions applications. Magnesium Elektron provide critical raw materials to the US Department of Defense (DOD) for the manufacture of decoy flares used in the protection of aircraft from heat seeking missile attacks.
Magnesium Wrought Products:
Magnesium Elektron operates direct chill magnesium billet and slab casting facilities, two magnesium extrusion presses and four rolling mills capable of producing a wide range of magnesium plate, sheet, coil, bar, profiles and billet products. Extruded magnesium bars, sections and tubes are widely used in aerospace, nuclear, automotive and other engineering applications. Plate, sheet and coil is produced for seawater batteries, photoengraving plates, production tooling, vibratory test fixtures, automotive and consumer electronics. Magnesium forgings are used primarily for wheels, aerospace and military applications.
Magnesium Elektron is the world's only fully integrated manufacturer of magnesium photoengraving plates (PE plate), from casting to coating.
